Italian Cuisine
The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.
Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.
If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

They have the best Argentinean Empanadas in the US. The food at this place is awesome. I would recommend this place toe anyone that look for great food and great service. Local owned and operated.

I love local Italian restaurants. This one is very good with great service. We had the Sea Bass special and the beef chimi churi special with a caprese bruschetta. The portions were very large. The fish was cooked perfectly and went well with the pasta. The beef was also cooked to order and seasoned well. Only nitpick was the caprese, would have preferred an option not on bread but the balsamic was great. Would return again.

I wanted to try something new. Not being from the area, Yelp lead me here. The place wasn't very busy. It was around 4pm on a Thursday night, but we were asked to wait to be seated. My impatience was growing. After about 10 mins, we were finally seated. I browsed through the menu, and noticed that they didn't have as big of a spread as I assumed. But usually, smaller menus means that the restaurant takes great pride and effort into their dishes. Once I saw lasagna on the menu, my heart was set. Since I was really famished, I added a cup of French onion soup to my order. It took about 25 minutes for the soup to arrive. It was very bland. Lasagna, I should have inquired first what meats they use, because I don't like Italian sausage, and would have preferred ground beef. With the fork in my hand, I dug deep, and noticed that my lasagna was sitting in a pool of water. Their sauce was so watery along with the drippings from the Italian sausage. The lasagna was by far, worse than a grocery store frozen lasagna. They should change the menu to "lasagna soup." Oh, and to top it all off, the lasagna was incredibly bland. Would I come back? No way!

I had a little bit higher expectations. In the end it seems a little overpriced for just ok tasting food.

A thoroughly enjoyable dinner last night. The food was excellent, my girlfriend had the Sea Bass special and I had the pork loin special. the talent of the chef far outweighs the orices. The atmosphere is casual and our server Jamie was on top of her game. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for Italian.
(4)Lorna K.
I like the seafood pasta very tasty. My husband ordered meat balls with pasta. I had a taste of it and it is very good. Friendly service. My favorite Italian food by far.
(5)Katy W.
This place was fine... The food was good but not really amazing. I did love the Gorgonzola salad dressing. I would probably come back if I lived here.... But since I live in Arizona if I find myself in the area again I would try something else before coming here.
(3)Marla W.
The staff here were extremely friendly and accommodating to our large party. I really enjoyed the house dressing on the salad. Ordered the flat iron steak and it was phenomenal. The steak was cooked to perfection and presented lovely. Will definitely stop back in and recommend this spot to friends and family. Enjoy!

Finally made it to this restaurant after hearing about it for a couple of years. We went for lunch and the lunch prices were right in line with other restaurants and ended up ordering something off the dinner menu. Very nice of them to go out of there way to make something that wasn't normally offered for lunch. The Chicken Gorgonzola was awesome and the serving was huge! (Guess I will be having it for lunch again tomorrow) Will defiantly make this a more often lunch location now that I have tried it, can't wait to try some of the other things on the menu.
(5)Anthony N.
I absolutely loved this place!!!!! Their Gnocchi is an absolute A+. The empanadas are nothing short of perfect. I have not had such good empanadas since I lived in South America. I have traveled the world and this place is one of the best family ran restaurants that I've been to. Also, I love the slow European pace, absolutely no rush!!!!This place is fantastic!
(5)Shellie A.
Pretty good. Especially for a small town restaurant. The crab ravioli was good. Wish they hadn't added the parm, tho. And the seabass was outstanding, However the risotto was not cooked to order. We will come back next time we pass thru
(4)Erica F.
I was really craving pasta after a 7 hour day of canyoneering so we came here. It's a random menu, sort of a mix of "new american," italian, and argentinian food. (empanadas, what?) The service was great, in fact there were almost too many servers and water people on the floor... more servers/bussers than tables occupied. We were told the pasta and rolls were home made, however they were definitely not. And the chicken was frozen. All in all, it was ok food and the service was all right (if overly solicitous). The prices were midrange, not inexpensive.
(3)Noemi M.
Best lasagne I have ever had! I am not Italian and I have never been to Italy. So I don't know what authentic Italian food is but what I can tell you is I love my grub and this is a place of yum. We'll be back when we're in St. George again.
(5)Sakshi J.
Went there on my way to Zion, and what a delightful place! Its a beautiful restaurant, adorned with artwork from local artists that creates a great setting. We got the gazpacho, ricotta-cheese stuffed ravioli and the vegetarian sandwich. Everything tasted really good. The staff was polite, though the wait was a little longer but I could keep myself occupied just exploring around the place.Even had a chance to have a pleasant chat with the owner. Great food, nice ambience, would definitely recommend for a paced out meal.
(4)Marina C.
My husband and I ate here for the first time today and I had the best gnocchi I've ever had in my life and I quite often order gnocchi at Italian restaurants. It's because they paid attention to the sauce. The gnocchi itself tasted homemade - like a soft little pillow in your mouth, but they really put time into the sauce too. It was rich and flavorful with a generous amount of meat. It was topped off with shredded parmesan. Amazing. My husband had the fettucini alfredo with sausage and loved his dish as well. He said the sauce had a slight smoky flavor and the sausage was excellent. Friendly waitress too. We will definitely come again next time we're in St. George.
(5)Tristan A.
Here on business and yelp suggested this place. I called and got the mushroom gnocchi to go. Wow. Delicious. Nicely decorated, nice staff. I will return for more gnocchi.. Dreamy stuff.
(4)Esther B.
Always get a reservation! This is more of a family owned & run Italian restaurant than a huge chain. It's well known for its friendly staff & fine Italian cuisine. Decorated with local art, with a small number of tables for a restaurant. Had over an hour wait to sit, so will be calling ahead for sure if we ever go again.
(3)Carl L.
My first visit here and the good reviews are justified. They got me to break my seafood rule - "don't, if you can't see the water" - and I'm glad. Despite being empty when we arrived service was a bit slow. But well worth the wait. Perfect portions perfectly prepared. I had the special - Presciutto -wrapped "sea bass" on homemade pasta. Everything was in balance and delicious. I love the "early miscellaneous" decor and original art by locals. Kitchen aromas greet you at the front door. Its like coming home to an Italian friends house.
(4)Rob L.
The food is great and the variety on the menu made it difficult to choose just one thing. Good thing there were four of us because we all order a different entree and shared. all four were awesome. look forward to trying more.
(5)Tasi M.
This place was great! My girlfriend and i ate there for the first time and we enjoyed it The place was very welcoming and home like setting We had great service And together we ordered the lasagna and ravioli with chicken which was delicious Overall we loved this place and recommend it
(4)Adrienne L.
House dressing vinagrette is delicious, though not as citrusy as one would expect, most entrees come with a small house salad. The bread and herb/seasoned butter was delicious. Italian sodas are made with cream- and topped with whip cream, careful there oh faltering heart! Marsala sauce is very flavorful but very heavy. Could not finish half of my Marsala Gorgonzola, but it was done well. Pasta a good al dente, but chicken a tad dry. Tasted a gnocchi, was very soft, but otherwise not that remarkable. French onion soup came out piping hot, great balance of salty and sweet. Tiramisu was more like a tiramisu inspired cake then a genuine tiramisu- the cake wasn't moist enough - don't think it was soaked at all- overall flavors were good but the cream also too heavy and thick. Waitress had great etiquette and language.
(4)Paul Z.
Food was... Ok. Empanadas were great. We had the chicken Marsala and the chicken Gorgonzola. The chicken in the Gorgonzola was bad... Dry and tough. The chicken in the Marsala was worse... Literally had the texture of hard rubber. We sent that one back. I hardly ever do that. The replacement chicken was MUCH better. Decided to give them a shot on dessert. Had the flourless chocolate cake and was very much underwhelmed. Who puts a thick layer of frosting on a flourless chocolate cake? Very friendly service though and, as stated before, the appetizer was fantastic. The atmosphere is a bit off as well. Weird ambience and art. I thought 3 stars was generous.
(3)Steve M.
We visited Cappeletti's while in town to run the St. George marathon. I loved the atmosphere and the decor. Everyone was friendly and the food is FANTASTIC from the bread, salad to entrees. We enjoyed it all. I would have given it 5 stars except that our waitress, while very friendly, seemed hurried and it made us feel like we needed to eat and get going. If she slowed down we would have enjoyed it even more. I was surprised as they did not seem that busy for her to be hurried like that. She did take good care of us though. We will go back next year for sure!
(4)Christopher C.
These guys make the best black and blue ribeye steak I've had, west of Texas! I typically order the steak with Lobster Ravioli. My wife thinks their Gnocchi is the best. We also love their house and Italian dressings on salad. The service is also top notch. I only wish they had a full bar.
(5)Sam J.
Popular local restaurant but our meals were only average with heavy rich sauce that saturated the entrees and made them less appetizing.
(2)Ron S.
I'm not sure why it took us 4 years to eat here, but for sure we'll be back. It was an excellent evening at a very fair price. My wife had the Flat Iron Steak and I had a Gorgonzola pasta dish. Both meals were very good, and I had enough left over to take home - very unusual for me. The house salad was excellent - actually one of the best I've had. Small and light and very tasty. The place filled up shortly after we were seated at 5:45 so reservations may be in order. We both ate for under $40 which I considered a bargain considering the quality of the food.
(4)Peter L.
Great food and service. Probably the best Italian food in southern Utah and gives 99% of the places in Salt Lake City area a run for their money. Seafood pasta was perfectly balanced with squid, clams, shrimp, etc. Service super friendly and not rushed. Short buy decent wine list. Must go when in St. G if you like Italian food.
(4)Darlene C.
Great find!! We loved our meals.. Service was great too! Gnocchi was a popular item with our party..
(4)Shirley T.
Fantastic! Visited for lunch based on Yelp reviews - glad we did. Had the Caesar salad, followed by the Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken - both delicious! Bread was great; service excellent. I highly recommend Cappeletti's!
(5)Karen C.
Excellent food, great atmosphere, & good service. Enjoyed the Chicken Marsala very much!!
(5)Azrrik H.
Delicious! The food was amazing and the service as well. A great value.
(5)Lo B.
This is the best Steak I have had in Southern Utah. Argentinians are known for their beef and they don't disappoint. We order the Flat Iron Steak often. Sometimes the wait is long, but if you are not in a hurry it's well worth it.
(5)Ann G.
The staff was very friendly and helpful, but the food was disappointing beyond belief. I ordered the spaghetti with marinara sauce, so I wasn't expecting to be blown away, but it was flavorless. The sauce looked and tasted like it was composed only of canned tomatoes, chopped onions, and parsley, and the spaghetti tasted like the pasta water had not been salted. Even the garlic butter served with the bread was the icky food service margarine stuff that cheap restaurants serve.
(2)J Z.
Staff was very friendly, had the empanadas for appetizer, they were very good. The gnocchi was good, but the best thing was the bread pudding. Easily the best bread pudding I've ever had!
(5)Jackie L.
This place is one of the cutest places I have ever been to. All the tables are decorated a bit differently, none of the chairs match, the walls are painted vibrant colors with art on sale and many other little nick naks. After driving a long time and hiking all afternoon we wanted a great filling meal and this was it. First we started off with the mushroom gnocchi which was a meal all by itself. It was very filling and the two of us were pretty full after consuming the delectable dish. Next, we were given our salads and bread. Immediately following us finishing our salads we were given the main course. The food was a bit rushed with one plate after the other but I think that was because we showed up a half hour before closing. For the main dish, we shared the special of the day which was sea bass with a zucchini tort (like a quiche) and orzo with a hint of basil. I was a bit scared about the zucchini tort because I'm not really an egg person but it turned out to be an excellent dish. The sea bass was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of crispiness to it, not like most other places which put 2 inches of flour on the meat and fry it. The mixture of textures and tastes was great but there was too much olive oil to the dish in my opinion. Overall a great place to check out!
(4)Glenn T.
I went there last on a Saturday night about 9pm. Part of the restaurant was converted from a department store. Not very Italian restaurant feeling. Service was good, food good but Chicken Marsala came with this strange thicker sauce than would be expected, but still good.
(3)Todd P.
Went to this restaurant based on Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed. Excellent food, great staff and a reasonable price. I had the homemade sausage sandwich with the fantastic potato salad., it was great!!!! Will go back again if ever in the St. George area again.
(5)Christopher T.
I was here a couple of weeks ago while on vacation and was very happy with the experience. There was easy street parking right in front of the restaurant, the waiter was extremely friendly and attentive and the food came out within a reasonable amount of time. I had beef short ribs with gnocchi and it was absolutely delicious. Being from NYC I hardly expect to find good gnocchi outside of New York italian restaurants but I have to say that it was some of the best I ever had. I can't really remember what my date had to eat but I do remember that she loved it as well. Overall very happy and if I'm ever back in the area I'll stop by for dinner for sure!
(5)Alberto B.
"The place is great. The atmosphere is simple and friendly. The menu is consistent and delicious. You do not feel rushed. You should try it."
(5)Janis W.
In St. George on vacation this summer and wanted to find a place with good Italian food. Checked on Yelp (of course) and found this little gem! Great food, great atmosphere and excellent service! We arrived around 7 on a Saturday night and the place was packed. We did not have reservations, so the hostess apologized and said we would have to wait. Hey, no apology needed...I like it when places are packed...it usually means good food! We only waited in the waiting area about 5 minutes and she directed us to a lovely table for two next to the front windows. Our server came over and we ordered a bottle of wine and the spinach/artichoke appetizer. The wine came immediately..the appetizer took a little longer. The server apologized and said they were backed up in the kitchen. No worries, we were enjoying the atmosphere of the quaint, colorful place and the delicious chianti! Also, right about then a storm was passing through and we watched the fabulous lightening and rain show! Finally the appetizer came, very good and very HOT! We ordered our dinner: I chose the pork chop and my husband chose the chicken gorgonzola. Our salads and bread came first (excellent salads with lots of fresh veggies included) and then the delicious entree. Mine was so beautiful I took a photo and texted it to my daughter. The chop was on top of delicious garlic mashed potatoes and at least a dozen spears of asparagus. And the port wine reduction was sinfully good. My husband's pasta was also excellent with chicken, walnuts, mushrooms, and the cheese topped with a marsala sauce. There was no way we could eat it all and didn't even try the desserts. If you are ever in St. George, you must check this place out. They do close for a couple weeks in the summer (thank goodness it was AFTER we were there!) and they are closed Sunday and Monday.

This is a pocket of Italy in the heart of St. George in southern Utah and the food brought back memories of me sitting in a trattoria in Rome. I had the fortune of stopping in when Lorena was making gnocchi in a Bolognese sauce. Both were amazing and the gnocchi were light and delicious as they should be. I also had the clam chowder and Jeff had the meatball sub. Great too but when I saw the fresh gnocchi on a tray dusted with flour I didn't even ask for the menu. I am a very picky eater of Italian food, having lived in Italy so I am always apprehensive to eat Italian, especially pasta or gnocchi, but I left here with a smile on my face a very satisfied palate.
(5)Yvette D.
A great little find in dining. Tucked away downtown St George, Utah. We love our Cozy, friendly, and inviting atmosphere one of our favorite restaurants. Always deliscious specials, and good variety on menu. Love the sea scallops and pasta dishes are excellent . The owner, Jamie and Staff are exceptional, personable, attentive and friendly.
(4)L B.
Inconsistent Food! They are rude when you let them know! We have been customers for over 2 years, since we moved here, from Orange County, California, and I wrote a rave review. If you look at my reviews, for other restaurants, they are positive. If I do not like it, I usually write nothing. The way I was treated by Fran was awful, when I told her there were 2 little pieces of hard plastic in my sauce, and that the Chimichurri sauce, which I have every time, and love, was bitter, all parsley & no oil. She said "if I were you I would not eat here again." A few people in town, who I recommended the restaurant to, told me when they had bad food & complained, that the owners & staff got upset with them, and they will never go back! We have complimented their food, to the owners and staff 20 times, or more! We've told everyone we know to dine here, for the last 2 years, but the 3-4 times that we have had things happen, and complained, they do not know how to take constructive critcism. Go to Painted Pony instead, where if you complain to them about a problem, they fix it, and thank you for letting them know, instead of telling you to go somewhere else! Painted Pony is delicious and knows how to deal with problems!
(1)Lynn W.
It was the best meal of our week long trip. The staff was super friendly and the meal was outstanding. We ordered both specials offered that night and would recommend doing this.
(5)Trudi B.
Haven't made it in for dinner, but they serve a wonderful lunch! I am addicted to the tuna salad sandwich on whole grain, with a side of coleslaw that would convert the most stalwart coleslaw hater. I am sure everything else is wonderful and fresh too...I just can't get past the tuna!
(5)Heather G.
A nice lunch with slow but good service. I had the special of salmon over pasta with a pesto sauce. The salmon was a bit over done, but the pesto was fantastic.
(4)Notskinny J.
Excellent service. Great food. We arrived during a very busy Saturday dinner rush. Although the kitchen was backed up, the waiter and the owner both made sure that our child got his dinner quickly (they even hooked him up with some crayons and drawing paper). Definitely recommend Cappeletti's to anybody visiting the St. George area.
(5)Joy R.
Spacious and roomy seating with fun colorful decor. I had the special, chicken in Chimmichuri served with polenta and nice green salad. The light and fluffy polenta had fresh basil and grated parmesan folded in. That was extremely good polenta! The tender, pounded chicken fillet was superb. Hubby had the Caesar with the same well flavored chicken filet. Loved the meal.
(4)Peg L.
One of our favorite places to go (and in St.George there is a shortage). Regardless, for lunch or dinner the food, service, and eclectic decor is exceptional and fun. The sea bass great, the chicken marsala a favorite. Good salads with great dressings, bread doesn't stay in the basket long. Interesting reading the other reviews as we just never had any bad experiences with any of our menu choices.Try it out!
(5)Michelle R.
We ate lunch here on our anniversary and loved it. Since it was a weekday at lunch, it was very quiet, which was nice so we could have a quiet conversation. The server was extremely helpful in deciding about what to order and he had a great, upbeat attitude. The food was delicious and we had enough to take home and snack on the next day. We had the Alfredo and Chicken Parmesan.
(5)Dale E.
The food was great. Got rude comment from the owner and yelled at by the server. Why? I questioned the bill. My wife asked for no mushrooms adi I asked if I could have hers. When the bill came they charged me for adding mushrooms. When I questioned it they got mad and called me rude. Then I got upset and they kicked me out. I go out a lot and have "NEVER" been treated so poorly. My first time ever being kicked out. The food is great but whatever you do "DO NOT QUESTION THE BILL"
(1)Diane F.
Would highly recommend! The fettuccine Alfredo with sausage was one of the best we have ever had! Also enjoyed the spaghetti with meatball and Emilia's Chicken. The server was friendly and personable. The owners came and greeted us after we told the server how excellent the food was. We may try to stop there on our way home!
(5)Mary K.
Food fabulous...staff very friendly...great place to have lunch or dinner.
(5)Mike B.
Great food. Simply delicious. The dinner will take a while as they spread it out like a real Italian meal, so plan for that
(5)Amanda D.
Loved this place. Great place to sit and enjoy a really delicious meal. The gnocchi was really good. I had the flat iron steak and it was perfect. They have a cranberry dressing for their salads that is also really great.
(4)Jimmy S.
This is always a favorite for us. The decor has an elegant modern feel and has great ambiance. They also have local art on display. The food is authentic italian. The owners are very friendly.
(5)Bianca H.
Food is fabulous! Service is great also. Both lunch and dinner are outstanding.
(5)Jenna D.
We were in town for Ironman and needed pasta. The menu is a bit limited but decent. The food was very good but took forever and there were only 2 other parties. Waitress seemed very busy and was not apologetic. Would give it another try if in town again bc food was good (corn chowder, gnocchi app, chicken pasta and sea bass). Even when I had to get up to hand them our credit card, it still took another 5 min to get it back. I work in a restaurant, so I know it takes about 20 seconds. Good place but should maybe staff more during IM.
(3)Kim T.
Since when did Philly Cheese steak and chicken salad become Italain food. This is the first place in St George that treated outsiders poorly. The service was insulting, the food fair and far from Italian. I will not go back and if you're not local be prepared for poor service to match the generic fare
(2)Cassie C.
Stopped here for lunch with family. Subdued signage made it a little hard to find but it's worth the effort. Fresh ingredients, friendly staff. Amazing true Italian food, huge portions!
(5)Scott L.
Very good service and atmosphere. Chicken gorgonzola and gnocchi were delicious. Sauces and salad dressings are homemade. The bread was warm! Great value.
(4)Kristen J.
Wow. This place is awesome. The spice rub they put on their steaks is one of the best I've ever tasted. The gnocchi is AMAZING and the owner has been making it by hand since she was a child. We ordered 3 of them it was so good. Anytime they have handmade pasta on the menu, order it. The salmon salad, seabass, prawns, chicken masala, all awesome as well. Everything is made crom scratch. Top quality in every dish. We will definitely eat here every time we're in st. George from now on.
(5)Kathryn R.
Fresh ingredients and pleasing combinations make for great lunch fare. Onion soup is always tasty. Sandwiches are satisfying. However, not the sort of bistro I experienced in Italy--maybe Argentina? Been here three times for lunch and service was always slow but friendly. Quirky decor that offers comfortable seating in a melange of what looks like garage and attic finds. Background music is perfectly suitable for dining and conversation.
(4)Scott B.
In town for an overnight and decided we were NOT going to a chain restaurant, so we went here based on the Yelp reviews. We were not disappointed. Despite the Italian name, I would call this "Argentalian" food due to its Argentinian and Italian influences, in this case a combo that works quite well. We had the bruschetta appetizer and enjoyed their variation on this ever popular dish (although why Americans refuse to pronounce this correctly is still beyond me - broo-sketta is the correct Italian way). I had a flatiron steak and my companion had the pork chop, both perfectly prepared and well-seasoned, with scrumptious mashed potatoes and haricot vert. They also had some seafood specials that sounded quite good, and we will need to try the empanadas next visit. The service was prompt, friendly and conversational, and the owner stopped by to check on us as well. We drive through St. George pretty regularly, and this is likely our new go-to spot for dinner.
(4)Christine W.
note: this review is only for their lunch --- my advice? just pass on by. the interior was eclectic/whimsical and the staff was friendly, but the food was rather sad. based on sampling a bite from each plate, everything seemed to be made with a heavy hand of salt (coleslaw, artichoke dip) or overly dressed (tuna salad, chicken salad, potato salad). gag. it sounds like their dinner menu offers a good selection and i'm betting the chef working dinner is not one in the same, but trust me... skip this place for lunch.
(2)Summer C.
Quaint atmosphere, delicious HOMEMADE food, prompt service and all for an affordable price! We will for sure be back! Get the calamari appetizer....best calamari I have ever had! House dressing is delicious! A must go in St. George!
(5)Ken M.
Love this place! Great food. Great service. We're regulars
